The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust (“Land Trust”) creates parks and gardens where they are needed the most. As an environmental justice organization, we focus our efforts exclusively in communities that have little to no access to green space. We engage residents from the beginning of our design process, through construction and ultimately the stewardship of the parks and gardens we develop. Since our inception in 2002, the Land Trust has created 25 parks and gardens that have added eight acres of green space to LA County. Often the only accessible green spaces in LA’s densest communities, our parks and gardens provide opportunities for immersive experiences in nature and experiential learning as well as critical access to healthy food. Each space enables individuals and families to develop personal experiences with nature and understand where their food comes from. Located in food deserts throughout LA County, our gardens often provide children with their first exposure to tomatoes growing on vines or corn growing on a stalk. Our gardens are safe green spaces where residents come together to grow fresh produce and create community through gardening. The Land Trust is creating healthier communities through access to green space. You can be a part of that change. Your gift provides seeds for families to grow their own fresh fruits and vegetables, increasing access to healthy food and improving community health.
