WHY IT MATTERS
There are girls who miss up to two months of school per year due to not having sanitary products. No one should be denied an education, especially due to biological reasons.
We at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS (www.AFCAids.org) have been working in Kenya and Uganda with children affected and/or infected by HIV for the past 8 years and we want every single girl in our programs to attend and graduate from school. If it means providing them with reusable pads (they will receive amazing kits that last an average of three years if treated carefully), we are happy to do so.
Girls who have the sanitary products they need to stay in school tend to follow certain trends, including: They are more confident in school and more likely to graduate; For every year of education a girl receives, her future income increases; When a girl has 7 or more years of education, she marries 4 years later and has 2.2 fewer children; She will speak up for herself and others and will contribute to her community.
Your redemption provides a girl in need her own reusable sanitary pad kit.
