WHY IT MATTERS
HIV and AIDS is still one of the most critical issues facing the children of our communities. Below the age of 16 the infection rate is less than 1% but from the age of 16 to 35 the infection rate rises to 33%! It is therefore critical to improve the awareness, knowledge and attitude of children between the age of 12 and 16 when it comes to HIV. We do this in a fun and interactive manner on the sports field as a more effective manner of introducing key messages and find by doing this the information retention rate on the sports field is 50% more effective than when conducting a classroom based information session.
