WHY IT MATTERS
Malnutrition is a huge problem in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, with many of our students severely under nourished
and showing signs of stinted growth. While malnutrition and hunger lead to the obvious
symptoms of poor health and development, they also have wider reaching impacts.
Firstly hunger leads to a lack of concentration, making it harder for children to progress in their
studies, often putting them years behind their peers. It can also lead to feelings of loneliness
and depression which can have huge impacts on children’s mental wellbeing and hugely effect
their social lives as well as their studies.
We provide food, such as rice, fish, meat, oil and sauce, to the poorest families in our area to help alleviate
this problem.
